An Impulse Decision Gone Right

vlog: 190803 MONSTA X [몬스타엑스] WORLD TOUR ‘WE ARE HERE’ IN NYC [VLOG]

[AUGUST 3RD, 2019]

I wanted to see Monsta X in 2018, but they came to New Jersey the same day I had tickets to see Taylor Swift during her reputation tour at Metlife. So I was determined to see them live and proclaim my love for Wonho and Joohoney.

I missed out on the general sale and the concert sold out, but I checked every week for resell tickets and found decent seats for a great price. (bless the person that was selling seats for only $10 more than the original price.)

On the day of the concert, I got to New York City early and acted like a tourist for the majority of the day.

I went to the 9/11 museum and it was a very emotional experience. I learned more about the day since I do not remember it, and it is not properly discussed in history courses in school. I didn’t take many photos but I will never forget my visit to this museum.

It was overwhelming at times, but they do provide you with proper trigger warnings about the more graphic exhibitions within the museum. Before entering the exhibit that goes into explicit detail retelling the timeline of that tragic day, there is an extensive trigger warning. In an especially graphic portion of the exhibit there were tissues available for people that needed it.

They say it takes you about 3-4 hours to go through the entire exhibit and that is correct. The exhibit that was retelling of the entire day took me 90 minutes to go through. If you want to learn more about 9/11 I highly recommend visiting.

I wanted to buy everything at Forbidden Planet

After watching some random dances it was time to queue for the concert!

I will NEVER forget the queuing experience for this concert.

The concert was held at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. The day was hot and dry and we were lining up to go in as the sun was setting.

The sun was right in line with West 34th street, and oh my God it was harsh. We stood in direct sunlight for about an hour. I had an umbrella to absorb some of the heat, but it was still brutal. The fans, of course, made it bearable. Monbebes were handing out freebies and slogans. I love k-pop fans so much.

Barbra Streisand was performing at Madison Square Garden the same night, so it was interesting to see the different ages surrounding the arena. Barabra Streisand fans thought that we were lining up for her and were very confused when we told them we were waiting for Monsta X. They were super nice though.

Once we were inside the arena, I spent $12 on water because I thought I was going to pass out after losing so much water from sweating for an hour.

The concert was fun and I was all heart eyes for Wonho the entire night (sorry Joohoney). Monsta X is a super talented group and I am so glad that I was able to see them in concert as seven last year. I hope that next year will be a better year for concerts and I will be able to see Monsta X when they return to New York City April 2021 and bless Radio City Music Hall.
