During San Diego comic con 2019, marvel announced WandaVision. The series promised to be a quirky, weird yet refreshing divergence from the usual marvel cinematic universe style.
As a Wanda Maximoff fan, I was excited to see Wanda finally getting her time to shine, but I wondered how they would incorporate Vision into the show. I love Wanda and Vision. Their relationship was beautiful and heartbreaking, but they never got to have a normal relationship. In WandaVision, Wanda decides to create the happy ending she was robbed of no matter the cost.
As always, this is not a full review.
Episode One: Filmed Before a Studio Audience

“Wanda and Vision struggle to conceal their powers during dinner with Vision’s boss and his wife.” – Summary from Disney+
It’s a legit sitcom, and it is bizarre. Something different for the MCU. I mean, I am a massive fan because I love this kind of stuff, but it is still a bit odd to see it in place in the marvel cinematic universe.
The Commercials
I love the commercials. It makes me feel like I am watching an actual 1950’s show. The toaster aimed at the housewives made by Stark Industries? I want one.
Era Appropriate Sexism
Housewives being dainty, seduction is equivalent to stumbling so your husband can catch you. It is so ridiculous it is comical.
They Don’t Have a Story
Wanda and Vision have a story, but in this reality, they do not. They are not an average couple. They don’t have an anniversary, a favorite song, or even a story about their first date. They are just there.
Episode Two: Don’t Touch That Dial

“In an effort to fit in, Wanda and Vision perform a magic act in their community talent show.” – Summary from Disney+
Pop of Color in the Bushes
I wonder why the helicopter was in color while everything was in black and white. It even had the same logo as the book at the end of episode one.
Creepy Occurrences
Who was calling out to Wanda? Was she doing that with her powers? Who was that person that was emerging from the sewage? Are they trying to wake her from this dream or reality that she has created for herself?
This first two episodes didn’t reveal much about the show’s overall plot, and I feel that in the coming episodes, we will learn more about that and more.
