Black Comic Book Festival 2020

Celebrating Black Comics in Harlem

[FEBRUARY 26TH, 2020]

The Schomburg Center’s Annual Black Comic Book Festival was held on January 17 -18, 2020. This convention featured many black artists and exhibitors. This was also my first time attending the convention.

Admission was free, but you did have to sign up in advance through Eventbrite.

As I was leaving the convention I noticed an entrance into a museum-like room. I was unaware if entry to the museum was included with the convention. I was politely informed that it was free and apart of the Schomburg Center. I am so glad my curiosity got the best of me because I was able to view the many artifacts that were on display in The Lapidus Center for the Historical Analysis of Transatlantic Slavery

The Center’s mission is to generate and disseminate scholarly knowledge on the slave trade, slavery, and anti-slavery pertaining to the Atlantic World”. –

This exhibit featured many different artifacts that provides even more information on the transatlantic slave trade. I highly recommend visiting The Lapidus Center within the Schomburg Center.
