WandaVision Episode Six

Marvel, Thoughts & Takeaways

Pietro is a freeloading brother that serves as comic relief, and I love that for him.

As always, this is not a full review.

All-New Halloween Spooktacular!

“Disturbances on Halloween separate Wanda from Vision, who looks into anomalous activity in Westview”– Summary from Disney+

Trauma Connection

Pietro said that Wanda suppressed the trauma of a ‘shared’ Halloween memory. But isn’t that Wanda has been doing this entire time? She is hiding the trauma of losing everything that she loved, and instead of confronting her trauma, she is ignoring it to live in this perfect version of Westview.

I Officially Dislike Director Hayward

He showed his true colors in this episode. Bringing up Maria’s death was so low of him. Saying that it’s a good thing Monica wasn’t here when her mother died because she could not handle it is terrible. Monica would do anything to see her mother again. Hayward is just upset that with a flick of Wanda’s wrist, he almost got killed by his agents, and now he wants to take on the most powerful avenger by himself even though he stands no chance against her power.

The Yo Magic Commercial

I didn’t understand it. It reminds me of the commercials I saw as a child, but I still don’t get it. There are probably some dark undertones to the commercial, so I’m just going to bask in my childhood nostalgia before I look up interpretations.

The Multiverse is Here

Wanda quizzed Pietro, and he didn’t know the answers because he is not the same Pietro Wanda knew. He is from a different universe. I am excited to see how they will pull off the multiverse, and I have faith that they will do it in a way that is not confusing and doesn’t retcon itself.

WandaVision Episode Five

Marvel, Thoughts & Takeaways

Who else got chills when Wanda emerged from the Hex and started speaking with her accent and basically threatened S.W.O.R.D?

As always, this is not a full review.

On a Very Special Episode…

“Wanda addresses Vision’s worries when he grows suspicious of the neighbors’ strange behavior” – Summary from Disney+

Agnes Broke Character

Agnes broke character for the first time and asks Wanda if she should take it from the top. Why isn’t Wanda questioning that she just broke the fourth wall and started to talk to her out of character? Does Agnes know this is not real? Does everyone else act that way? Or is she the only one that can break character and be self-aware, and it’s ok?

The Show Got Real Dark Real Fast

The opening was kind of depressing. I never liked to watch those kinds of shows back in the day because it’s too wholesome sad for me.

Monica’s description of mind control was unsettling. She said that it was excruciating and terrifying. I can only imagine how scary it must be to have someone in your head controlling you and telling you what to do when to do it, and how to do it. But it seems to me that Monica resisted most of the mind control, which means that it was more painful for her because she was fighting against Wanda for control over her own mind.

So about Wanda stealing vision’s body from S.W.O.R.D so she could resurrect him, I had to watch this scene twice. Like, she was in so much sorrow that she went to S.W.O.R.D facilities to take his body so that she can resurrect him. But I wonder if he can survive outside of the Hex.

S.W.O.R.D is Painting Wanda as a Villain

S.W.O.R.D is creating this narrative without much information. To them, Wanda is a terrorist; in reality, she is grieving. She has lost everyone that she loves. Wanda is not going against vision’s wishes by turning him into a weapon. Where did that even come from Hayward? Wanda wants to build a life with the person she loves. There is no ill intent behind this.

WandaVision Episode Four

Marvel, Thoughts & Takeaways

Episode Four is the first episode to integrate into the MCU, and they started by showing the chaos in a hospital after the second snap. Not gonna lie; I found this way too interesting. We forget that people just randomly came back everywhere around the world. Like, a woman could have been giving birth, and all of a sudden multiple people appear in the room.

As always, this is not a full review.

We Interrupt This Program

“Monica Rambeau, tasked with a special assignment regarding sentient weapons, goes missing.” – Summary from Disney+

S.W.O.R.D was being built in the shadows by Maria, like how Peggy built S.H.I.E.L.D in the shadows. Hopefully, everyone is loyal, and there are no moles.

I wonder if Capitan Marvel is involved with S.W.O.R.D. Like, she is always in space. The acting director also mentioned interspace missions that Monica used to do, so I wonder if Monica worked with Carol. Maybe they had a falling out since Monica did not have the best reaction to hearing her name. I wonder if she has powers since she has gone on interspace missions and maybe even went on some assignments with Carol.

Wanda Is Live Editing?

When Agent Woo was trying to communicate to Wanda over the radio, she heard him, but she made sure it didn’t make broadcast waves. She is live editing her sitcom and doing everything in her power not to mess up this picture-perfect life that she has. She is finally happy.

When Someone Enters The Hex, They Change To Fit In With The Aesthetic

Once the S.W.O.R.D agent came into the Hex, his cable turned into a jump-rope, and his protective gear turned into a beekeeper outfit. Wanda is the most powerful avenger.

WandaVision Episode Three

Marvel, Thoughts & Takeaways

I was fine until Geraldine referenced Pietro’s death, and then Disney thought it would be cute to recommend us to watch Age of Ultron.

MCU fans: oh my god that was intense.
Disney: watch Age Of Ultron to take your mind off it bestie!

Now In Color

“Wanda’s pregnancy fritzes her powers as she and Vision prepare for an accelerated delivery”  – Summary from Disney+

The world is starting to glitch

Herb was cutting the hedges into the divider wall but not stopping was a bit odd. It’s like he spaced out and started to think about his real life.

Wanda wants no criticism.

Wanda doesn’t want to hear any criticism of the world she created and makes sure to fix anything that seems abnormal. Once Vision was starting to get suspicious, she changed things and low-key gaslighted him. But he is slowly becoming more self-aware, so I expect him to continue questioning things.

Wanda saw Monica as a threat and exiled her.

Anyone that threatens Wanda’s newfound happiness will be dealt with accordingly. Geraldine, aka Monica Rambeau, just wanted to know what was going on with Wanda and made a big mistake while doing so. All of this makes Wanda sound like a villain, but she is not.

This entire situation is heartbreaking. Wanda made this world to have a somewhat normal life with Vision, but now it is slowly falling apart at the seams. The townies are becoming self-aware, and Vision is starting to ask questions. But Monica did the worst by referencing real-world events.

WandaVision Episode One & Two

Marvel, Thoughts & Takeaways

During San Diego comic con 2019, marvel announced WandaVision. The series promised to be a quirky, weird yet refreshing divergence from the usual marvel cinematic universe style.

As a Wanda Maximoff fan, I was excited to see Wanda finally getting her time to shine, but I wondered how they would incorporate Vision into the show. I love Wanda and Vision. Their relationship was beautiful and heartbreaking, but they never got to have a normal relationship. In WandaVision, Wanda decides to create the happy ending she was robbed of no matter the cost.

Episode One: Filmed Before a Studio Audience

Photos from official WandaVision Twitter Account @WandaVision

“Wanda and Vision struggle to conceal their powers during dinner with Vision’s boss and his wife.” – Summary from Disney+

It’s a legit sitcom, and it is bizarre. Something different for the MCU. I mean, I am a massive fan because I love this kind of stuff, but it is still a bit odd to see it in place in the marvel cinematic universe.

The Commercials

I love the commercials. It makes me feel like I am watching an actual 1950’s show. The toaster aimed at the housewives made by Stark Industries? I want one.

Era Appropriate Sexism

Housewives being dainty, seduction is equivalent to stumbling so your husband can catch you. It is so ridiculous it is comical.

They Don’t Have a Story

Wanda and Vision have a story, but in this reality, they do not. They are not an average couple. They don’t have an anniversary, a favorite song, or even a story about their first date. They are just there.

Episode Two: Don’t Touch That Dial

“In an effort to fit in, Wanda and Vision perform a magic act in their community talent show.” – Summary from Disney+

Pop of Color in the Bushes

I wonder why the helicopter was in color while everything was in black and white. It even had the same logo as the book at the end of episode one.

Creepy Occurrences

Who was calling out to Wanda? Was she doing that with her powers? Who was that person that was emerging from the sewage? Are they trying to wake her from this dream or reality that she has created for herself?

This first two episodes didn’t reveal much about the show’s overall plot, and I feel that in the coming episodes, we will learn more about that and more.

BLOGMAS DAY TWENTY-FIVE: Wonder Woman 1984- Thoughts & Takeaways

blogmas 2020, Thoughts & Takeaways

Friday, December 25, 2020

I LOVED this movie. To me, it was better than the first film.

I have a terrible attention span, so I’m not gonna lie; when I saw the 2 hours and 35-minute runtime, I was concerned that I might not be able to finish it in one sitting. But the movie kept me so engaged I didn’t realize that much time has passed.

As always, this is not a full review.

Be Careful What You Wish For

This film reminds me of Madoka Magica. It has the same theme of ‘Be careful of what you wish for.’ In Madoka Magica, these girls make wishes, but they give up their souls and become magical girls who put their lives in danger to fight witches in labyrinths.

In Wonder Woman 1984, if you make a wish with the stone, it comes true, but it takes something you love. In Diana’s case, she wished for Steve to come back to her, but she slowly lost her powers in return.

Is there something that you want so badly that you are willing to give up something you love to have it?

I Relate to Barbara

I related to Barbara because she is an outcast. No one cares to remember her; no one attempts to talk to her or acknowledges her presence.

I have been in many situations in which people forget about me or intentionally gloss over my existence. I know that I was not the nicest person in the past, so I low-key deserved it, but now I like to think I am a better person and undeserving of others’ mistreatment.

80’s Aesthetic

I think 2020 was the year retro came back. I saw it the most in K-Pop. Retro-themed music videos and songs like I Can’t Stop Me, Dynamite, and La Di Da was on repeat. Naturally, I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The color grading, set design, and costume design made me feel like I was in the ’80s.

Excited Steve Trevor is Adorable

Seeing Steve become fascinated at how much the world has changed since World War I was the cutest thing ever. Like the escalator scene was so freaking cute. Can someone please make a compilation of him getting amazed by the simplest things? I need the serotonin boost

Who’s Doing It Like Pedro Pascal?

Last week I cried my eyes out while watching the season two finale of the Mandalorian. Mando (played by Pedro Pascal) and Grogu had a father-son-like bond. When Grogu had to leave with Luke Skywalker, you could see the effect it had on Mando. Mando was tearing up at the departure of his son, which made me cry my eyes out

In Wonder Woman 1984, Pedro Pascal played a different type of character. He played a man who wanted to succeed so badly he was willing to destroy the world to do it. His cravings for success came from growing up in poverty with an abusive father and being bullied at school. He wanted to change his life but was not going about it the right way. He just wanted more and more and eventually turned into a con man—promising clients success while taking their money without following through on any of his promises.

Mando was the father of the year; Max Lord, on the other hand, is not.

Max Lord seemed to regret ever having a child. He wouldn’t remember when it was his weekend with his son and even lashed out at his assistant when he found out it was his weekend again with him in which his son overheard his frustrations. At the end of the film, we find out Max wants to be a great father to his son. A father he never had. He had to get rid of the idea that money would make him happy and magically turn him into a person his son would be proud of.

The range Pedro Pascal has is incredible. I want to watch him in other films.

BLOGMAS DAY SEVENTEEN: What Happened To The True Meaning Of Christmas?

blogmas 2020, Thoughts & Takeaways

Thursday, December 17, 2020

The stress of impressing people you barely talk to with a gift that costs way too much is ridiculous. Every year the true meaning of Christmas is being destroyed by consumerism.

We spend astronomical amounts of money at the end of the year to get gifts for each other.

I’m all for appreciating one another because that’s what we should do. It’s a kind act. But It just makes me think about the commercialization of the holiday. There is a beautiful story to Christmas that gets overshadowed by money.

BLOGMAS DAY SIXTEEN: Why Do We Break Ourselves To Buy Things We Can’t Afford?

blogmas 2020, Thoughts & Takeaways

Wednesday, December 16, 2020

I’m not talking about cars or houses; I’m talking about things that have cheaper alternatives like the newest piece of tech or designer clothing.

We live in a society where our values and self-worth are based on what we have. We purchase things that we know we shouldn’t spend the money on when there is a cheaper alternative. We do it to flex on others and to make ourselves feel better about ourselves. We are implying that we are wealthy when we are not, and this is insinuating the phenomenon in which we cannot be happy unless we have money.

We break ourselves to get things that we want to impress people we don’t care about.
